Visuals for wine labels

My favourite thing to draw is undoubtedly fashion, but it seems that in doing so one develops a sense for aesthetics that are appropriate for brands in other areas of the life style industry. This is how over the last few years I have been creating numerous visuals for wine labels.

Before working for this industry I would never have imagined that there is so much intention and so much work in the concept behind a wine label. But that's how it is: the briefs sent to me by my client, the agency Kontur Kommunikationdesign, are very elaborate and individual. Created in constant communication with the wine merchant and the winemaker. Very specific and linked to the region where the wine is produced, to its ecosystem, its orography, its family history… So sometimes the drawing is the castle of the domain, as if it were an ancient engraving, and sometimes it is a plant native to that region, or an abstraction of the minerals that make up the soil, or the silhouette of a local hill drawn in a single ink stroke. Go have a look.

It is a job I love, because it is varied and allows me to try different techniques and materials, because I learn a lot and because over the years a symbiosis has been created between Kontur and my studio that makes the work effective and most enjoyable.
