Italian design editorial illustration

Don't ask me why, but ever since I was a little girl I've had a fantasy of one day becoming an illustrator, and for me that meant drawing for a fashion magazine.

Although I consider myself very lucky with the clients I have, with the brand names in my portfolio, and although my drawings have been published in VOGUE and other publications, never so far have they been commissioned directly by the magazine itself. And that's something I want to change this year.

Until now I haven't really tried it, always with the reasoning that I had enough work and why should I complicate myself looking for more and for what specific reason I want to work in editorial work, if I already have other interesting work, what's going to be better when I get published. I still haven't found an answer to this question beyond what I said above: for me it was the first idea of the illustrator I wanted to become.

So I have recently set myself a series of commissions, as if they were the content for a women's magazine, to be sent to some publishers. The first of these has resulted in this small series of illustrations that I have included in the mock-up of an article about iconic pieces of Italian design. See the gallery below.

I have, of course, a lot more ideas for content that could lead to beautiful illustrations. I actually have more ideas than I have time. But I'm sure I'll soon finish another small collection that I'll be able to show you here.
