Daily drawings for one year

The day-to-day life of a professional illustrator involves less time drawing than one might think. There are weeks when the work only requires us to write offers and invoices, take care of contracts and taxes, update the website, contact clients, order material... But as athletes need to train and musicians practice their instrument every day, so we need to exercise hand, brain and eye. And reserve a bit of time to try out materials, ideas...

That's why this year I decided to draw at least one drawing a day "for me" regardless of what the work required that day. And I have carried it out to the letter. Very few days I forgot to draw (I think two days) or to photograph and upload to instagram what I had drawn that day.

The result: a lot of drawings. Some better, some worse, some straight to the trash, others that I'll come back to with the intention of analysing them and retake part of what I like about them.

I have used some of these originals to send them as Christmas presents to my clients and also as motifs for the 2022 calendar I have created.

There are still a couple of weeks to go until 31 December but I can confidently say that I have achieved my purpose. Now: I can't wait for the challenge to be over :-)
